The same goes for police officers as. The reason is that property tax, and cost of living is so much higher on long island. It makes no sense, but its just how it is. That’s why people have the warped perception that long island is so wealthy, when in actuality it is just mostly middle class.

Typically most police officers on long island started their careers in the city consisting of manhattan, brooklyn, bronx, queens, and staten island. After some service time in those areas they have a higher chance of getting an easier long island job. Thats typically why you see older police officers on long island, and younger ones in the boroughs.
