If you are a new player you should read this section. If you have some experience playing Black Desert Online then you can skip this part and go to the next. To be able to cook anything in Black Desert Online you first need to get yourself a residence. To do that you need to invest CP in a house node that has the residence option as shown in the image below. When you have a residence, you need to buy a cooking tool, either a regular one or a Balenos special one. Once you have bought the cooking tool you need to enter your house and place it in the residence by clicking the P button. That opens the placement screen. You now need to select your cooking tool from the menu at the bottom, choose a place for it and drop it there. You might also want to install a chandelier or two either from the market or one that you build on your own to be able to see better. When this is done you are ready to cook. When you have all the needed materials you just need to stand close to your cooking tool and press the R button. And there are a lot of pets so there will always be a demand. In fact, the only competition is the organic feed which is another type of feed that you can make in a similar manner. It is also harder to make organic feed as it requires milk, which is problematic to get. Flour is made by grinding grains corn, wheat, barley, etc using the processing option Press L. The best way to get grains is to have your workers gather them. If you do not have workers yet, you should read this guide on how to make money with workers and get yourself some workers. You can also gather grains yourself at farms located around the lands of Black Desert Online. Just search for a farm with a grain node. Making flour requires only a single grain for each grinding batch which produces 2. The only way to get fresh fish is to catch it yourself. For making good feed you can either use fresh fish or dry your fish through processing and use dry fish. However, I recommend that you have your workers gather dried fish for you from fishing nodes or just buy dried fish from the market. Fishing nodes are located on islands in the sea. An example of a few fishing nodes next to Epheria is shown in the image below. Meat is the only ingredient that you absolutely have to gather yourself or buy from the market.

Dulfy 65 Comments Mar 18, Pets make it easier to loot enemy corpses when you have defeated them since the pets will gather the loot for you and transfer them automatically to your inventory. This saves you from having to manually loot corpses. Currently ingame there are 3 types of pets, each with a different special skill. Check this list to see which ones are available. Each type of pet also have different item pick up speeds i. They start off as looting corpses every 10s for you but as they get to the max level it goes down to as low as 4s for some cats and hawks and 4. This is for tier 1. They also have different hunger gauge levels. Higher gauge means they need more food satiety to replenish but they can stay out longer before needing to be fed. You can only have 3 pets out at a time so this is something to keep in mind, especially if you purchased multiple pets. Doing this will simply release the pet to follow you around but they will not use their special skills. To activate their special skills, you need to. You can have the special skills of all the pets you have out active at once, you just need to activate each one manually every time you check them out. Something to note about Cats and their special gathering resource marker is that they will only mark gathering resources you can gather with your currently equipped tool. This means that if you have a Gathering Hoe equipped, it will only mark Wild Herbs. If you want it to mark things like fruit trees you can gather or thickets you have to unequip any gathering tool. The marking is simply a red beam that lasts for a few second and your cat will physically run to a resource to mark it. If you are not actively using your pets, you should check them in as their satiety hunger depletes whenever they are let out. However, if you like to level your pets up faster and have the food to feed them, then you should leave them out. Pets can have a level of within a tier. Higher level means they have faster looting cooldowns as the looting speed goes down to Higher tier pets gain levels slower, as expected. Pets level up only when you feed them food so the faster their hunger gauge depletes the faster they will level up. So if you want to level up a pet faster just leave them out and feed them regularly. The pets you purchase from the Pearl Shop are Tier 1 and only give buffs once they reach level To get skills at low levels you need to breed them so they advance past Tier 1. Breeding allow you to exchange two pets of the same type i. This will kill them both but the offspring have a chance to advance a tier or even multiple tiers. The highest pet tier is tier 4. You cannot breed two pets that are more than 1 tier difference apart.
